PostSubject: Re: Godric's Hollow   Godric's Hollow EmptyTue Aug 30, 2011 10:41 pm

Astrid: We Apparated to Godric's Hollow. I took in everything around us. It was so still and quiet. Much different than what I last remembered of it. It was not completely still of course. A few people walked about, but the atmosphere was low. Why we were here, I had no idea.

((You made me responsible of the place... not why. ;D))

Lupin: I smiled at Astrid's confused expression, "In a way, this is where it all started. And for the most part it is still a Wizard Village. I find that it's often helpful to start at the beginning of the issue. There may be other Wizards or Witches that we can gain as allies."

((And I gave an excellent why, if I do say so myself. Now we have who, what, when, where, why, and how.

Who: Lupin, Astrid, and Charlie
What: Gaining Allies for the Order
When: Now
Where: Godric's Hollow
Why: To defeat U-No-Poo, the constipation sensation that's gripping the nation.
How: By finding witches and wizards who still have hope.))

Lupin: "That is simple enough. Every witch and wizard has a certain amount of traceable magic. The best way to describe it is that they have a magical aura that surrounds them. It's quite easy to distinguish between someone that is magically gifted, and someone who, in layman's terms, is a muggle. If you don't know what it is that you are looking for, muggles, witches, and wizards seem the same. The Ministry uses the same technique when finding muggles that have seen and heard too much. If they interrogate them, and they know about a certain instance that happened, but do not have the magical aura, the Ministry is able to wipe their memories of the incident. Have you ever noticed that Hogwarts itself has a magical feel to it? When searching for the aura, it will feel the same as Hogwarts does, but it is less potent," I explained. "Luckily, I happen to know someone who was a loyal ally to us the last time that You-Know-Who was at full power, and I am hoping that he will be as willing as he was before." I began walking down the street, not waiting to see if Charlie or Astrid was following me. After a few minutes, I stopped at a house that looked to be a run-down shack. I grimaced slightly before walking up to the door and knocking using a brass knocker in the shape of a lion.

((Anyone interested in creating a random character that can either join the Order, or can decline the offer and stay "in hiding"?))

Astrid: I followed Lupin to his friend's home. I raised my eyebrows after I'd taken in the entire image of the thing. Friend of the Order indeed.

Lupin: I frowned when no one answered the door. When I knocked again, the door opened of its own accord. "Lumos," I said as I held up my wand. The inside of the house was lit up, and I could see vague shapes of furniture inside. I sighed and walked inside.

Godric's Hollow Empty
PostSubject: Re: Godric's Hollow   Godric's Hollow EmptyWed Aug 31, 2011 1:45 am

Lupin: "And so the coward Caradoc continues his legacy, in hiding. You ran away the first chance you had after joining the Order eighteen years ago with the help of Dumbledore. Leaving your friends, the people that trusted you, to fight for what they believed in on their own! What does it matter to Caradoc Dearborn? As long as he is able to save his own hide, he is content. Complacently watching as James Potter - the man who was distraught over your supposed death - and his wife died trying to make the world you live in a better place! Not even when your Secret-Keeper, Albus Dumbledore, was murdered, did you show your good-for-nothing face. Oh yes, you were perfectly safe in this dilapidated shack. You were the only other person alive who knew the truth, therefore no one could intrude on your sanctuary. Unfortunately, Dumbledore had some faith that you would return. Before he was murdered, he divulged the secret to me. Obviously, he was wrong. Even after having seventeen years to wallow in self-pity and to think about your actions, you are still the same poltroon who turned his back to his friends seventeen long years ago. In case you are oblivious to the world around you, people are still dying for what they believe in! Those people are leaving friends and family behind, but they do so willingly. But, as I said before, as long as Caradoc is safe, what does that matter?"

Caradoc: I turned around slowly, shaking my head. "You have no idea, Remus. Absolutely none. Coward? Perhaps. Wallowing in self-pity? No... not for a moment. The reason I left.... the reason I faked my own death all those years ago. Do you know that reason, Remus Lupin? No. I don't suppose you do. Well, I'll tell you." I sighed, hearing my voice raising with anger. "The reason is that I couldn't bear to see my friends dying around me. My friends, and my family. To be completely honest with you, I wish I had died. I wish I was dead, so that I didn't have to sit here and relive it while you tell me what a coward you think I am.... so that I don't have to think of how I could have changed things, if I hadn't been so weak...."

Godric's Hollow Empty
PostSubject: Re: Godric's Hollow   Godric's Hollow EmptyWed Aug 31, 2011 2:16 am

Lupin: I shook my head, "Although that may be true, that is no excuse. We are all watching our friends and family die around us. If it is at all possible, we prevent those deaths. But it does none of us any use to go into hiding every time that they see the light leave another friend's eyes. If everyone were to do that - as I'm sure most of us would like to, myself included - not only would they have died in vain, but he would win. Need I be more blunt than that? Yes, our friends have died, and yes, it is hard for all of us. Do you think that I was celebrating with the other witches and wizards when they thought that You-Know-Who was gone the first time? I was mourning the fact that one of my only friends from school had been murdered doing what he knew was right, even though it meant him watching his friends die. And then there was Sirius, one out of the three who was my friend at Hogwarts, who was convicted of a crime he didn't commit, and he spent thirteen years in Azkaban! Not to mention Pettigrew, who turned out to be the true traitor. Yes, it would have been simpler to wallow and mourn over those tragedies, even now. To hide because they died doing what they needed to in order to win this battle. We have a chance to end this; to make the world a better place for those who follow in our footsteps. No one wants to grow up in a world full of heartache, misery, and grief. And if we stand by and watch as You-Know-Who continues to get stronger - stronger than ever before - that is exactly how the rest of this world will be. And you're telling me that you are still willing to stay in hiding, even through all of that?"
